MCT Provides Dozens of Custom High Speed Cameras for Mounting on F-16.
The Challenge:
The US Air Force required a high speed camera small enough to fit inside a Sidewinder missile pod, one that was Mil Spec 810 & 461, and also needed specific standardized communication protocol and file formats. Their ultimate goal was to set up a GigE Vision communication network onboard the aircraft that would allow them to “plug in” any manufacturers camera. Image data from the camera would be saved in an IRIG-106 Chap 10 file format. The challenge was that no high speed camera manufacturers were currently offering either of these comms or file format options in their products.
